Chevrolet–a History
The company Chevrolet was founded by a Swiss racecar driver Louis Chevrolet and the ousted founder of General Motors, William Durant. When Durant was forced out of General Motors, he wanted to use Chevrolet’s designs to rebuild his reputation in the automobile industry.
SOME HIGHLIGHTS:
November 3, 1911 : Chevrolet debuted in the market and competed with the Ford Model T. After a year, the "Classic Six" was introduced and flourished in the market. The Classic Six is a sedan that can seat five passengers, and has 299 in3 (4.9 L) with a six-cylinder engine than enables the car to run up to 65 miles per hour (104 km/h).
1913: The Chevrolet "bowtie" logo was used by the company. It was said that the logo was designed from a wallpaper that Durant saw in a French hotel.

1916 : Durant bought major shares inGeneral Motors
1917: Durant, as president of General motors, merged Chevrolet into GM and became a separate division.
1955: Chevrolet introduced the small block V8 engine in their model, and it became the most popular and adaptable V* engine tha was produced. It came out with 265 cubic inches whih had a two-barrel carburetor. It was rated at 165 horsepower, which increased with with the addition of a four-barrel carburetor, and a 195 HP version, called the "power pack". This had a high lift solid lifter cam, high compression heads, and dual exhaust. This engine hit it big with hot rod owners replaced the flathead Ford engine as the engine of choice by hot rodders. This year, the 265 cubic inch engine was offered by the big three U.S. automakers but no other US car could overtake its performanc–Chevies utilizing the power pack engine with the three-speed manual shift transmission can skyrocket from zero to 60 in 8.4 seconds, which was a great achievement at the time.
