It is already March 28 and it means that the 2007 Adelaide Motor Show is already up and open. And that also means that the Chevrolet Camaro which is a sports coupe will already be set on display here.

Anyhow, the vehicle is going to be showcased at the mentioned auto show Down Under for this is the place where some of the most important parts of the whole vehicle has been done and created. In fact, the engineering of the vehicle as well as the completion of the design was made in Australia in GM’s facility found in Fishermans Bend, Melbourne. However, the vehicle would be continuing on to the North American market sometime during the first part of 2009.

On the Chevrolet Camaro sports coupe, Tony Stolfo, the executive for GM’s global design, shares that the vehicle is going to be one very specific and concrete example of the kind of work that GM can do with regards to all its global vehicles. He even does continue, “Chevrolet Camaro’s engineering and design work is happening right here, right now, at Fishermans Bend. We are very excited about helping style the look and developing the thrilling drive performance that are hallmarks of this iconic nameplate. We also want to see whether Australian buyers would want a Chevrolet Camaro in local dealerships. This motor show is an excellent opportunity to put that appetite to the test.”

Also, Ed Welburn, the VP of GM’s global design, expresses, “The new Camaro will be almost identical to the concept, a thoroughly modern interpretation of the 1969 model, considered by many to be the best design of the car’s first generation.”

Design is not the only thing that the Chevrolet Camaro has. In fact, the company also boasts that the vehicle would be coming with two engine choices: a V6 and a V8. it would also be coming with its engine placed in the front and the vehicle would be made to be a rear wheel drive unit. These would be matched with an independent rear suspension.

“We intend to make the all-new Camaro relevant to younger buyers while retaining its appeal to current fans,” proffers Ed Peper who works as the general manager for the Chevrolet brand. He further does continue, “The beauty of the best Camaros is that they have always been beautiful to look at with performance that rivals expensive European GTs. Yet they were practical enough to drive every day and priced within the reach of many new-car buyers.”
