Chevy was able to win the Nextel Cup Manufacturer’s Championship for the 31st time since 1952. The Chevy Rock & Roll 400 at the Richmond International Raceway has been set to fire up when Jimmie Johnson won the 2007 Manufacturers’ Championship for Chevrolet in NASCAR’s premier division as released by Motorsport early this morning. After ten races, Chevy was able to get the award.

Too bad, they don’t use the Mercedes Benz washer pump but it was all worth it because of the 26 races, the different drivers were able to catch 19 victories for this season which also brought Chevrolet the award. These were the drivers that contributed to the victory of Chevy:

  • Jimmie Johnson (6)
  • Jeff Gordon (4)
  • Tony Stewart (3)
  • Kevin Harvick (1)
  • Denny Hamlin (1)
  • Kyle Busch (1)
  • Jeff Burton (1)
  • Casey Mears (1)
  • Martin Truex, Jr. (1)

This was the fourth consecutive time that Chevy was able to win the Nextel Cup Manufacturer’s title on the Nextel reign. This was perhaps the most famous racing series ever joined by Chevy. The car team was able to get a huge attention because of the 2007 Manufacturers’ Championship.

The Chevrolet general manager, Ed Peper, was quoted saying, "This has been a dream season for Chevrolet. We have won 19 Cup races so far this year. We have nine of the 12 drivers in the running for the NASCAR Nextel Cup title. And tonight we also want to congratulate Hendrick Motorsports and Jimmie Johnson for winning the Chevy Rock & Roll 400. Our success in NASCAR is a result of many hours of hard work and dedication from all the men and women on our Chevy race teams. We know that a strong performance in racing helps to generate the same strong performance in the marketplace, and we’re pleased with everyone’s efforts to keep the Chevy bowtie out front on and off the track."

The driver of the no. 48 Lowe’s Impala SS, Jimmie Johnson, also said, "We just had a solid effort all night. Parts of the race, especially the first two-thirds of it, we had a good car, maybe not the fastest car. We kept working on it and got our Impala SS right. I’m really proud we clinched this Manufacturers’ Cup for Chevrolet. I can’t believe we’ve clinched this early in the season. That’s phenomenal. I think it says a lot about the brand and the relationships with the teams have with GM and in particular with Chevrolet. With the new car coming on line with the Impala SS and to hit the ground running like we did to have the advantage that we did, says a lot about everybody’s commitment."
