How Speedy is the Chevy Volt?

We have all been waiting for the day when someone from General Motor speaks about the Chevy Volt. Now, the New York Times revealed the recent interview they had to Bob Lutz. The GM superstar released more updates about the upcoming electric-car from GM.

The Chevrolet Volt has been one among the most sought after GM car models and just before they released the new model, David Pogue of the New York Times had a chance to get to know the new car.

David Pogue of New York Times asked Bob Lutz, “So, what about torque and RPM? Is it all measured differently?”

Bob Lutz answered, “Yeah, batteries have tremendous performance and torque. Our performance targets for the Volt are 0 to 60 in around five or six seconds. Top speed of 120 miles an hour for a limited time. A hundred miles an hour is sustainable.”

Among the top speedy cars of Chevy is the new Volt which is capable of a 0-60 mph stint in 6 seconds. The electric Chevrolet Volt hybrid took its new features and performance from the current production BMW 335i or Infiniti G37. Then it will be more interesting.

However, the General Motors Corporation had a chance to correct what Lutz have misspoken. They have to visit gm-volt.com to tell followers that the car actually has 8.5 - 9.0 seconds and not the time Lutz has announced.

The Detroit based automaker will be producing 60,000 units of the Chevrolet Volt Hybrid this year. This is actually four times more than the first time Toyota brought the Prius in the US car market. Chevy also tagged the new Volt with a price of less than $30,000. That is I guess reasonable for a hybrid car, right?
